The Delhi government has allowed citizens to celebrate Ramleela and Durga Puja while adhering to strict COVID-19 guidelines.

As the festive season is approaching across India, the Delhi government has made an important announcement regarding Ramleela and Durga Puja celebrations in the national capital, in a recent notice issued by the concerned authorities.

As per the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Ramleela and Durga Puja celebrations have been allowed in the national capital in the upcoming month, but only with strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government in this regard.

The notice issued by the DDMA also includes a detailed list of guidelines to be followed by citizens and the authorities involved in the celebrations of the upcoming festivals. Strict action will be taken against those who fail to follow these COVID-19 guidelines, as per the DDMA.

The COVID-19 guidelines for Ramleela and Durga Puja celebrations state that Delhi Police and district authorities need to ensure proper seating arrangements during the festive celebrations in accordance with the social distancing norms.

There should be separate entry and exit points in the venue to facilitate smooth movement and authorities have been asked to ensure that there is no overcrowding at the venues. Further, the SOPs clearly state that no fairs or stalls are allowed at the venue to make sure there is no overcrowding.

A meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, in presence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, was conducted yesterday, after which this decision was taken by the DDMA. It has also been stated that strict action will be taken against the event organizers who are not following the COVID-19 guidelines mentioned in the notice.

“After a detailed discussion with experts, the need to strictly follow and enforce Covid-appropriate behaviour (CAB) was emphasised upon especially in wake of the upcoming festive season to prevent any resurgence of infection,” Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal tweeted after the meeting.
