"If along with caste, religion and language columns too are incorporated in the census form, it will help in assessing the condition of different sections of society," DMC chairman Kamal Farooqui said.

A day after the government assured the Lok Sabha that it would consider demand for caste based census, Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) today demanded that the census should also seek information on religion and language.

"If along with caste, religion and language columns too are incorporated in the census form, it will help in assessing the condition of different sections of society for effective planning," DMC chairman Kamal Farooqui told reporters here.

Responding to a query on caste base census, Farooqui who was on a visit here, said that the Indian society is based on caste and the data collected under census will make things easier for policy-makers.
