Delhi MP demands full statehood for national capital

Through a Special Mention in the Lok Sabha, MP JP Agrawal said law and order was not with the Delhi government and this was creating administrative problems.

Demanding full statehood for Delhi, Member of Parliament from the national capital, JP Agrawal today said inadequate powers  with the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT) government was hampering the development of the city.

Through a Special Mention in the Lok Sabha, Agrawal said law and order was not with the Delhi government and this was creating administrative problems.    

"This (not being granted full statehood) is also hampering the development of Delhi," he said, adding the Centre should work towards giving Delhi full statehood.    

Though the NCT government, has been given certain powers vested with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi recently, it still does not handle law and order and housing.
