NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Tuesday impounded 100 Blueline buses, whose permits were cancelled after it was found they were violating traffic rules and regulations.
The drive was launched yesterday following Sunday's accident in which a Blueline bus mowed down seven persons. "We have impounded 100 buses in the past 24 hours," a senior police official said.
During this year, police have prosecuted buses 74,355 times and impounded them 9,268 times. Police have arrested 1,306 drivers while licences of 2,965 drivers were punched during the period.
The figures of prosecution for rash driving are 4,555 drivers, while for using pressure horns, action was taken against 8,498.
Prosecution action was initiated against 5,071 buses for stopping on undesignated bus stops, while drivers without uniforms were prosecuted 25,612 times.
The figures for wrongside overtaking was 2,111 while the prosecution figures for driving without seatbelt was 8,552.
