Delhi Rains: Heavy downpour in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad; water-logging in several spots

Heavy downpour was observed in the national capital and nearby areas of Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad.

For the second day running, heavy rains lashed several parts of Delhi-NCR leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in major intersections.

The Delhi Police has announced that there’s waterlogging in the following places:

Waterlogging reported on Bhairon Marg under railway bridge.

Waterlogging reported at Hanuman Setu on ring road and under Inderprastha flyover on Inderprastha marg.

Waterlogging reported at Karan Singh Shooting Range T-point on MB Road and Netaji Subhash Marg to GPO Chhatta Rail.

Waterlogging reported at Okhla Sabzi mandi Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 2.

Waterlogging reported under Modi Mill flyover.

Waterlogging reported at Bihari Colony railway bridge, SDM office Nala Road and near Geeta colony flyover.

Yesterday, the situation was similar and particularly worse around the MCD Civic Centre, one of the worst-affected areas.

Speaking to ANI, a commuter had said that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government failed to fulfil their promise of developing infrastructure and drainage in the capital. "Whatever they have promised so far is all based on lies. I am stuck in this traffic for the past two hours. They only make tall claims but do not make any efforts on the ground level," he said.

Another commuter had claimed that his car was about to get submerged because of heavily waterlogged roads. "Luckily, I managed to escape the accident but it is very ubnfortunate that the government has not done anything for clearing up the monsoon mess," he added.

The Delhi Police along with locals rescued as many as 30 stranded passengers after the bus they were travelling on broke down at the ring road in the Yamuna Bazar area.

Several other areas of Delhi, like ITO, Ramlila Maidan, Minto Road witnessed bumper to bumper traffic, caused by slowing down of vehicles on waterlogged roads.

The Delhi Traffic Police posted a tweet, advising commuters to avoid Rajendra Prasad Road, DBG Road under Ajmeri Gate Flyover, Rohtak Road near Liberty Cinema, Rajaram Kohli Road, GT Karnal Road, Nalah Road, Guru Nanak Road, Minto Road because of the heavy traffic jam due to heavy waterlogging.
