Delhi was under tight vigil today as Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari visited the capital to have a luncheon meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh before heading for Ajmer.
Around 2,000 security personnel, including sharpshooters from NSG, were on their toes ensuring security to the visiting President, who was accompanied by his son Bilawal Bhutto and Interior Minister Rehman Malik among others.
A senior police official said elaborate security arrangements were made and security personnel deployed on the route from the airport to the Prime Minister's residence.
Sharpshooters were deployed on the high-rises along the route, he said.
The route from airport to Prime Minister's residence was sanitised and police took all precautions to ensure Zardari's convoy had no problems.
The special security measures remained in place till Zardari went back to the airport to leave for Ajmer.
