A Delhi policewoman constable was found dead at her rented apartment in southwest Delhi's Palam village on Wednesday, the police stated.
She was found lying in bed in an unconscious state by the landlady who came to check on her. Alarmed by the incident, she informed her husband who informed the police.
On reaching the spot, the police found ligature marks on the body of the woman.
"On reaching the spot, the body of a woman with ligature marks was found lying on the bed. The spot was also inspected by the crime team," said Devender Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest).
Cctv cameras were also checked during the police investigation, and in one of the footage a man was seen leaving her house early morning on Wednesday.
A murder case has been registered, the police stated.
Her parents stayed in Haryana's Rewari district while she stayed in rented accommodation which she rented a week ago.
She joined the Delhi police in 2018 and worked as a Daily Diary entry writer in the office of the duty officer with the 3rd Battalion of Delhi Armed Police.
The police stated that the cause of death will be ascertained once the autopsy is conducted.
