BHUBANESWAR: Incessant rains lashed several parts of north Orissa on Thursday as the morning's depression formed over Bay of Bengal concentrated into a deep depression.
The system remained practically stationary about 50 km north off Kolkata at 1730 hrs and was likely to move slowly in a west-north-westerly direction, a bulletin issued by the Met office said here.
Under its influence rain or thundershower was likely to occur at most places over north Orissa and many places over south Orissa.
Besides, heavy-to-very-heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy (over 25 cm) precipitation at isolated places was likely to occur over north Orissa during next 36 hours, the weather office said.
Local cautionary signal number three had been kepthoisted at Paradip and Chandbali.
Its likely impact could be squally weather along and off north Orissa coast and wind, speed reaching 50 to 60 to kmph, was expected to prevail over north Orissa coast and 45 to 55 kmph over south Orissa coast.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, it said.
