Dissident ruling SDF MLA PS Tamang today blamed chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamlinf for dictatorial style of functioning.

Launching a broadside against chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, dissident ruling SDF MLA PS Tamang today blamed him for dictatorial style of functioning and alleged that there was a sense of fear and insecurity among the people who were afraid to raise their grievances fearing reprisal.

"An atmosphere of fear and insecurity prevails in Sikkim. The people discuss issues in a hushed manner as otherwise they
will be prosecuted by the instruments of power at the command of the chief minister," he told a public meeting at Rolu near Jorethang in West Sikkim.

Even the functionaries in SDF, bureaucrats and ministers in the Chamling government were afraid to speak out and put across their views for fear of being sidelined, he alleged.

He appealed to the people to prepare themselves for a political change in Sikkim soon but did not elaborate on his future strategy to take on Chamling.

Chamling has done no better than his predecessor Nar Bahadur Bhandari in strengthening the democratic institutions and transparency in public life as an identical political situation and autocratic rule like in the Bhandari-regime was prevailing in Sikkim, Tamang said.

SDF leaders refused to read too much into the allegations by Tamang and said the party leadership has no immediate plan to tackle the dissidence led by him.
