In a shocking incident, a three-year-old was heinously injured when a youngster set off a sutli bomb inside her mouth in Meerut.

A doctor was quoted saying by news agency ANI: “Her tongue has a cut, her checks have burn marks and there are dust particles inside her mouth.”

The girl’s father said that a boy stuffed a ‘sutli bomb’ in a girl’s mouth. Her condition is serious and she has over 50 stitches inside her mouth. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, police said on Wednesday.

The girl’s father, Shashi Kumar in his complaint claimed that a local youngster named Harpal stuffed the bomb inside her mouth and lit the fuse. The bomb exploded inside the girl’s mouth and caused severe injuries.

In another Diwali-related tragedy, a five-year-old girl died after she fell off the roof of her house while bursting firecrackers in this western Uttar Pradesh district, police said Thursday.

The girl, a resident of Bhokaheri village under Bhopa police station, fell off the roof Wednesday evening while bursting crackers on Diwali. 

She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival, the police said.
