Shaheed Bhagat Singh used to say that bombs and pistols do not bring revolution, instead, ideas ignite a revolution. Bhagat Singh wanted to see India independent from the British shackles, but he was hanged 16 years 4 months and 23 days before India finally became independent. 

How Shaheed Bhagat Singh dreamt of a free India?

1) Bhagat Singh established the Naujawan Bharat Sabha in March 1926. In 1928, he changed the name of the Hindustan Republican Association to the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. The name itself shows Bhagat Singh's views of a free India.

2) Bhagat Singh dreamed of an India where we value our Indian identity rather than our religious identity.

3) He wanted an India where there was more to the independent rights of citizens than religion.

4) He did not consider freedom to be confined to political bonds. Rather, he believed that economic and social freedom was equally important.

5) He dreamed of such an India that is free of exploitation, injustice, inequality, superstition, and ignorance.

6) Bhagat Singh used to imagine an India where people have a mutual brotherhood. He was always concerned about people who would incite communal riots.

These were the dreams Bhagat Singh had dreamt of for a free India. However, we are still struggling to achieve these aspects in today's times.


Some interesting facts about Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru

When the Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on April 13, 1919, then Bhagat Singh was only 12 years old. He had then left his school and reached Jallianwala Bagh. From there, he took home some mud that contained the blood of those who died.

When Bhagat Singh's parents wanted to get him married, he left his house and went to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. And then he told his parents that if he got married in those times, then his death would be his bride.

Before the execution, he had written a letter to the then Governor of Punjab, where he had asked the British government to shoot him instead of hanging him.

Bhagat Singh held a 116-day strike in jail with Sukhdev and Rajguru and the strike shook the roots of the British government.

For India's independence, Bhagat Singh gave the slogan ' Inqalaab Zindabad'.

When Shaheed Bhagat Singh was only 8 years old, he had started talking about the British government being driven out of India.

At the age of 23, he embraced the noose as a jewel for free India.

Very few people know that revolutionary Sukhdev Thapar had asked Bhagat Singh to throw a bomb in the Central Assembly. Sukhdev had then told Bhagat Singh that he was the right person for the job.

In addition, Shaheed Rajguru joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association at the age of 16.
