AHMEDABAD: DNA, the English news daily published by Diligent Media Corporation Ltd, a joint venture of the Bhaskar and Zee Groups, has achieved pole position in the Ahmedabad city market.

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, DNA Sunday achieved an average circulation of 1,14,039 in Ahmedabad in the January-June period of 2008. In contrast, the latest available figure for the Sunday Times relating to July-December 2007 shows the city circulation figure as 68,291. For the weekday edition of The Times of India, the relevant figure was 80,452. The figures for January to June 2008 are under consideration.

This suggests that there is wide gap between DNA Sunday and its nearest Sunday rival in Ahmedabad city.

KU Rao, CEO of Diligent Media Corporation, says DNA’s meteoric growth is a testimonial to its understanding the pulse of readers in each new market it enters. Such customised thinking will again be evident as its rolls out its Bangalore edition, it’s sixth, soon.

Adds Rao: “Yes, we are happy that DNA Ahmedabad, has broken the barrier with its Sunday edition, reaching 1.14 lakh copies. DNA Ahmedabad has its readers across the city and we are happy with the profile of these readers, which spans SEC AB and influential people of the city.”

DNA was launched in July 2005 from Mumbai, where it is the second-largest newspaper with a circulation of over 400,000. Besides, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, DNA has editions in Surat, Pune, and Jaipur.
