The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has seized many allegedly incriminating documents from the residences and offices of Dr Ketan Desai and his associate that were raided in Ahmedabad, Delhi and Punjab.
Sources in the CBI told DNA on the phone from Delhi that the documents required further scrutiny by the agency.
The sources said that currently the investigating agency is checking the authenticity of the documents and scrutinising them to find out exactly which properties are owned by Desai and his family members. There are reports that cash and gold worth crores had also been seized during the raids but CBI officials refused to confirm the reports.
The sources said the documents seized during the raids will help the CBI in proving the charges against Desai. Desai was arrested late on Thursday night in connection with a complaint in which he is accused of accepting Rs2 crore as bribe.
