The election department wants to ensure that voters don't get influenced by any means, especially when the canvassing comes to an end before December 1

The election department has started distributing voter slips in Jaipur. This time, the voter list also bears the photographs of the voters.

Also, it is for the first time that the election department is distributing these slips, which till last elections, were distributed by the workers of political parties.

The decision had been taken so that political parties do not influence the voters just before the polling.

“This time, the election department is distributing the voter slips to people ahead of the polling. The initiative has been taken for the first time. The election department wants that voters don’t get influenced by any means especially when the canvassing comes to an end before polling,” said an election officer informing about the decision.

This time, the photo has been an addition; the other details are same like voter’s name, booth’s name and location etc on voter slips.

Though the polling is still four days away, the election department has started distributing these slips as the number of voters is huge.

These voter slips are ‘authenticated’ by the electoral officer/BLO concerned so that they can be used as an alternative identification document by the voters for the purpose of casting votes.

These voter slips prove to be of immense help for rural voters during voting in absence of other identity proofs.

Earlier, these slips were distributed just a day before the polling by political parties. The slips also used to bear the election symbols of the parties.
