Encephalitis claims seven more lives in UP; toll mounts to 370

A total of 272 patients of the brain fever are under treatment at the Medical College Hospital (MCH) and 27 others are at government hospitals of the region.

Seven more children succumbed to the deadly encephalitis at BRD Medical College Hospital (MCH) here, raising the death toll in the deadly disease to 370 since January this year.

Additional Director Health, LP Rawat, said that while seven children died in two days, 49 fresh cases of suspected encephalitis were admitted to the hospital.

A total of 272 patients of the brain fever are under treatment at the MCH and 27 others are at government hospitals of the region.

Of the 2023 patients suffering from Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) admitted this year to the MCH and other hospitals, 370 died.
