On a tour of Pirana area, a corporator calls up to know whether he will be safe there.

If you think you are the only one afraid of stray dogs, then this bit of news could give you some solace. For, it seems even coporators are petrified of the canines roaming the streets of Ahmedabad.

So much so that a corproator called up for assurance when he came to know that he was to visit the Pirana dumping site. The corporator is a member of the newly appointed steering committee in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

The committee members had to visit and take a look at all the ambitious projects of the AMC, on Saturday, including the landfill site at Pirana. Sources in the AMC said that the worried member called up at the office of the solid waste management at Pirana to check about the stray dog menace at the site!

"A call was made by a member to know if the team will be chased or bitten by stray dogs at the newly developed landfill site at Pirana?," said the source in the AMC

"Probably, they are also scared of dogs and have taken to heart reports of stray dogs caught by the Cattle Nuisance Control Department (CNCD) being deserted at Gyaspur," said the source while trying to control his laughter.

It was a sort of picnic for the  members as they made a trip to various parts of the city to get familiar with premier projects like Pirana landfill site, Memco sports complex, EWS housing among others.

Talking about their visit, newly appointed chairman of standing committee Bhupendra Patel said it was a good one. "All the projects we visited are shaping up smoothly. The trip was organised so that the newly appointed steering body can know of   the kind of development undertaken by AMC,” said Patel.
