Amid a war of words between him and Prime Minister, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday committed a gaffe and praised Narendra Modi instead of party candidate Narendra Swamy.

A gaffe by Siddaramaiah happened not once, but twice when he referred Congress MLA Narendra Swamy as Narendra Modi, reported PTI.

The incident comes when the state election is just three days away, and both BJP and Congress are leaving no stone unturned to counter each other.

"If road work has happened, concrete roads, drainage, drinking water facilities are there, if houses have been constructed, it is all because of Narendra Modi and our government," Siddaramaiah said.

The Chief Minister, however, corrected himself when pointed out and said 'sorry Narendra Swamy' as the crowd cheered.

In a few minutes. Siddaramaiah again committed a mistake and said, "Everyone should understand that every single vote cast for Narendra Modi, is like casting for me...."

He then corrected himself after the intervention of those standing next to him.

Last month, Amit Shah had described his party's former government led by BS Yeddyurappa as 'number one' in corruption while seeking to accuse the incumbent Congress regime in the state of graft.

Shah was immediately corrected by Yeddyurappa and BJP MP Pralhad Joshi who whispered into Shah’s ear: “Siddaramaiah government,” following which the BJP chief said: ”arre re...Siddaramaiah government is number one in corruption.”
