The Opposition for the first time in the 2019 elections has complained of a 'foreign hand' in the Lok Sabha polls. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday alleged that Russia is meddling in the ongoing LS elections in India.

He further said that the alleged EVM hacking and malfunctioning has been done to benefit the BJP. It is notable that the US had also alleged that during the US polls, Russia had interfered to ensure Trump wins.

Naidu addressed the media in Mumbai along with NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde, and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. DMK, TMC, and communist party representatives were also present in the press conference.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that he was confident of winning. "People are afraid about the EVM hacking and malfunctioning," Pawar said. Naidu said that people from across the country have complained of EVM malfunction where they voted for other parties but their votes were going to BJP's lotus symbol only.

Naidu said that India's democracy is in danger. "The PM is demolishing each institution like the RBI and the CBI," Naidu said. He alleged that EVMs were being hacked. "We have asked the EC to have 50 per cent counting of VVPAT slips in this Lok Sabha polls against the earlier decision of five from the state and assembly segments," Naidu said.
