Days after he was quizzed by police in connection with the death of his "close" female friend, former Goa tourism minister Fransisco Pacheco today applied for anticipatory bail.
The 46-year-old NCP legislator, who is untraceable ever since he resigned from the Cabinet on June 5 after his name cropped up in the death case, moved the bail application in the sessions court in Panaji through his lawyer.
Nadia Torrado, 28, died on May 30 at Chennai after allegedly consuming rat poison. Pacheco was questioned by crime branch on June 4 after women organisations alleged his involvement in the death.
The former minister has denied the charge.
