NEW DELHI: Twenty people, including two minor girls, sustained minor injuries after an iron bar fell on them at a metro construction site near the Moolchand flyover in south Delhi, officials here said on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 8.30 p.m. Saturday when an iron bar from one of the under-construction metro line pillars bent and fell on passers-by.
"The three-year-old girls were taken to AIIMS (All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences). The younger one suffered injuries on her head and she had to be given stitches. The girls have now been discharged from the hospital," spokesperson for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Anuj Dayal said.
He said an official enquiry into the incident had been ordered.
“There is no such evidence of negligence - even so the chief engineer will conduct an enquiry into the issue,” he said.
In an incident earlier this month, a metro viaduct had collapsed killing two and injuring 30 at a metro construction site in Lakshmi Nagar locality of east Delhi.
