Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has been removed from his position as the J&K Cricket Association chief on Monday.
Imran Raza Ansari, the J&K sports minister, will replace the ageing patron of National Conference. Meanwhile, Abdullah, who has been acting as the JKCA President since 1980, has termed his ouster as illegal. The state's cricket body has been accused of misappropriation of funds received from BCCI.
Abdullah who was President of the cricket body since 1980 decided not to contest this time. Earlier there were reports that 45 of the 64 member board of J&K cricket association was against Abdullah continuing as the chief. Soon after Ansari replaced him, Abdullah said that his ouster is illegal and he is mulling legal action.
In May this year , Farooq Abdullah was asked by the High Court to file his response to a petition alleging misappropriation of funds in the state cricket association.
