Even after five days of hunger strike by nearly 3,600 jawans of Gujarat Industrial Security Force (GISF), the state government is yet to respond. On the other hand health of jawans on strike is deteriorating day by day when most of them are thronging the hospital in Gandhinagar.
Protestors allege that the state government is undermining their strike as it has not even talked to them about their demands. The jawans who are on strike demanding pay hike and other benefits lambasted the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), GISF Society, Amit Gupta who had allegedly threatened to sack protestors.
Agitators claimed that nearly 10,000 people are likely to be present at the strike venue on Sunday to support the cause of the jawans including the family of jawans on strike. They said that all the new recruits of security sub inspector rank in the force will also join the protest from Sunday.
Ahmedabad-based artist and activist Pravin Mishra who is supporting the cause said that nearly 40 jawans have been hospitalised so far, while two of them have been put on oxygen because of their poor health. He claimed that in spite of this no jawan is willing to break the fast. He said that 110 jawans will stop drinking water from Saturday night.
The protesters said that the government is undermining the strike but if any situation related to law and order arises, it's the government who is going be held responsible for it. While lambasting GISF Society's CEO Amit Gupta the protesters claimed that no one is on duty.
