FIR against Jaiprakash Yadav for 'illegal release' of brother

A case was registered on Saturday against Union Minister Of State For Water Resources for securing 'illegal release' of his brother and party candidate for Jamui assembly seat Vijay Prakash

JAMUI/BIHAR: A case was registered on Saturday against Union Minister Of State For Water Resources and senior RJD leader Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav for securing 'illegal release' of his brother and party candidate for Jamui assembly seat Vijay Prakash.

Vijay was arrested for moving around with cash, liquor and licenced arms besides cartridges during Tuesday's poll, District Magistrate Sravan Kumar said.

Kumar said the FIR was registered by the Khaira police station on the directive of the Election Commission.

When contacted, SP (Jamui) Arvind Kumar said the FIR was registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code against both Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav and the suspended officer-in-charge of Khaira police station Mukteshwar Prasad for causing "escape" of Vijay Prakash arrested under non-bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.

"The two have been charged with entering into conspiracy to cause illegal release of Vijay Prakash", he said.

Meanwhile, Munger Divisional Commissioner S K Sinha who was assigned the probe after the Additional Director General of police Manoje Nath proceeded on leave, submitted his report to the Commission on conclusion of his inquiry into the circumstances leading to the "illegal release" of Prakash.

Vijay Prakash was arrested with a rifle, ammunition, Rs 6.68 lakh in cash and 50 bottles of liquor during the polling.
