A fire broke out in the gynaecology department at the premier state-run SSKM hospital today, but was doused within an hour, fire brigade sources said.     Nurses of the maternity ward noticed the fire at the metre box near the operation theatre on the third floor at 9.30am, fire brigade sources said. Two fire tenders arrived and put out the fire within an hour, the sources said. All patients waiting for operations were shifted to other operation theatres, hospital sources said. Initial investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a short circuit, the fire brigade said.
