Fire breaks out on cargo merchant vessel off Goa coast, firefighting ops underway

The vessel was on passage from Mundra to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

A major fire broke out on a container cargo merchant vessel about 102 nautical miles southwest of Goa. Two Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships have arrived from Goa, and firefighting efforts are underway. In visuals, huge flames of fire can be seen gushing out of container ship while ICG ships are throwing water to douse flames. Notably, ICG is doing a firefighting operation on the ship, which carries dangerous international maritime goods amid bad weather and heavy rains.
