Fire destroys hosiery unit in Kolkata

The police said fire spread to other parts of the residential building where the hosiery unit was running illegally at about 6.55am.

Fire destroyed an hosiery processing unit in a five-storey building today at Tiljala in Kolkata.

The police said fire spread to other parts of the residential building where the hosiery unit was running illegally at about 6.55am.

Three firemen received minor injury and the fire has been controlled, the police said.

The cause of fire was unknown, fire brigade sources said.

In another incident in the twin city of Howrah, fire has been raging in a plywood godown at Katlia.

Six fire tenders were pressed into service to contain the blaze, firemen said.

The cause of fire here too has been unknown, the police said.
