Firing in Rajasthan; ex-BJP MP, wife escape unhurt

Vishvendra Singh and wife belonging to a royal family, and 200 other supporters were protesting outside a hotel whose owner wrote a book allegedly criticising the royals.

Former BJP MP Vishvendra Singh and his wife Divya on Thursday escaped unhurt when an unidentified assailant opened fire at them during a demonstration outside a hotel in Bharatpur.

Vishvendra Singh, who belong to a royal family, along with his wife Divya and 200 other supporters were protesting outside the hotel whose owner had written a book allegedly criticising the royals, police said.

The supporters ransacked the hotel following which some one from inside the building fired at the former MP and his wife, they said.

Two persons were injured in the incident, police said, adding the kind of wound suffered by them is not clear yet.

Senior police officers have reached the trouble spot and investigations are on.
