First FIR lodged in Gomti River Front scam

In less than 24 hours after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister recommended a CBI probe, first FIR was lodged against eight senior engineers of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation department in connection with the Rs 1,513 crore Gomti Riverfront Development scam.

The FIR has been lodged by the Executive Engineer of the Irrigation department at the Gomtinangar Police Station late on Monday night under Sections 409, 420 of the IPC and 7/13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Those who have been named in the FIR include SN Sharma (Ex-Chief Engineer), Kazim Ali (former Chief Engineer), Shiv Mangal Yadav (Chief Engineer), Akhil Raman (Superintendent Engineer), Kamleshwar Singh (Superintendent Engineer), Roop Singh Yadav (Ex-Executive Engineer) and Surendra Yadav (Executive Engineer).
