On the Board of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. 
Rahul Mehra served as an Independent Director of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. since January 14, 2009 until October 5, 2012. Naveen Jindal, who is the promoter of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and was also a Congress MP. 

Director in another company 
Apart from holding an independent director's post at Jindal Steel and Power, Mehra was also a Director on the Board of GSM Sports Private Limited.

Sports activist
He, along with his friend Shantanu Sharma, filed a PIL against BCCI seeking accountability and transparency in the way BCCI was run. He later targeted other sports bodies in India including the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the Badminton Association of India (BAI), Hockey India (HI), and the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) among others. 

A Law graduate from Delhi University
Mehra is a Law graduate from Delhi University and has been a practicing lawyer in the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court since 1998. He is a member of Bar Council of Delhi and is practicing as an Advocate in Supreme Court and High Court, Delhi since 1998. 

On the panel of lawyers for the Indian Government
He has been on the panel of lawyers of Union of India for Supreme Court matters and also for the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for extradition matters. 

Represented foreign governments
Rahul Mehra has represented as a Panel Lawyer for a number of Foreign Embassies including the Embassy of USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, amongst others.
