In the wake of the massive floods and widespread loss of lives and property in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajya Sabha MP and Former BJP Delhi president Vijay Goel has decided to donate his one month's salary as Member of Parliament to Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
"All of us must join hands to help the relief and rehabilitation efforts in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already made an appeal regarding this which inspired me to take this small step of donating my salary. The relief and rehabilitation efforts would need to be carried out at an unprecedented scale in Jammu and Kashmir and all of us should try and contribute as much as we can for our brothers and sisters affected by this natural calamity," Goel said in a statement.
He also said that the Central Government would continue to provide all possible assistance to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
"Our armed forces have done commendable job in the ongoing rescue and relief efforts. A large number of volunteers and non-governmental organizations have also made exemplary effort. It is time for the whole country to stand by the people of Jammu and Kashmir," said Goel.
