Out of power, former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti visited a terrorist's family in south Kashmir's Pulwama and cautioned the government against alleged harassment of terrorists' families.
"Visited Patipora in Pulwama where Rubina (whose brother happens to be a militant) was along with her husband and brother beaten mercilessly in police custody. The severe nature of her injuries has left her bedridden. Urge J&K governor to initiate action and prevent such incidents in the future. If harassment of families of militants isn't stopped, it will have consequences leading to further alienation in the valley," Mehbooba tweeted.
BJP was quick to hit back, calling it the worst form of cheap and opportunistic politics. "She has stooped so low that it is difficult to imagine that she was the chief minister sometime back. When she was CM, encounters were taking place and she was all praise for the security forces. When she is not the chief minister, she goes to militants' families and incites people," Sunil Sethi, chief spokesman of J&K BJP, said.
