NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident in the Capital, former super model Geetanjali Nagpal was spotted in a south Delhi colony begging for alms to make ends meet.
Soon after the news came to light that the shabbily dressed Nagpal was spotted in the Hauz Khas village area, the model went into hiding and was not traceable. Though there were reports that she was taken away by the police, the cops have denied any role in the incident.
“We have nothing to do with the model because she is not a criminal and we have not received any complaint about her from the residents,” said Anil Shukla, deputy commissioner of police (south Delhi).
The officer further said that according to police inputs, it seems that the model had started taking drugs.
Nagpal is the daughter of a navy officer and had completed her schooling from Mount Carmel School. She then graduated from the prestigious Lady Sriram College.
Soon after taking her bachelor’s degree, Nagpal pursued a course in fashion designing and also started modelling in the early ‘90s. The glamorous lifestyle ended soon as she failed to get modelling assignments after a while.
Though the police and residents of the area did not knew the reasons that forced Nagpal to live on the streets of Delhi, it was discovered that she was in a live-in relation with a British national in Goa till recently. The whereabouts of that person was also not known.
