Four passengers with a travel history to Germany who were advised 'home quarantine' because of suspected coronavirus infection were de-boarded from the Bandra Terminus-Delhi Garib Rath Express train at Palghar station after co-passengers raised an alarm, the Western Railway said on Wednesday.
On seeing 'home quarantine' stamp on their hands, co-passengers on Garib Rath Express alerted the authorities near Palghar, around 100 kms from Mumbai.
A Western Railway (WR) spokesperson said the four passengers were de-boarded from coach number G4 and G5 of 12216 Garib Rath at Palghar station when travel ticket examiner and co-passengers raised an alarm after seeing the stamp on their hands.
"Four persons suspected to have COVID19 who had flown down from Germany and were heading to Surat, were deboarded from Garib Rath train in Palghar today," Chief Public Relation Officer of Western Railway said.
They had 'home quarantine stamp' on their hands, still they were defying the protocol, the PRO added.
The Garib Rath Express does not have a halt at Palghar but the train was given an unscheduled halt to deboard them.
They were taken to a government hospital in Palghar where doctors and the local authorities checked them and later allowed them to go ahead by road, he said.
The officials said the four passengers were screened at the Mumbai international airport on their return from Germany. While they were found negative for coronavirus, they were advised 14 days of home quarantine.
