Four members of a family, including a woman, were allegedly murdered by their son-in-law and his relatives this morning at Amberpet area here over some family dispute, police said.
The condition of a 24-year-old woman, who was also attacked in the incident, was critical and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital (OGH), Amberpet police said.
One Jehangir and his relatives "attacked" the family of Qamaruddin with iron rods and blunt objects at their house in Premnagar locality of Amberpet area at about 6.30 am, resulting in instantaneous death of Qamaruddin, his wife and two other family members, police said.
The condition of Qamaruddin's daughter Nehazabin, the wife of the prime accused, who was also attacked, was serious, a police officer said.
Jehangir, a mechanic was married to Nehazabin, about two years ago, but the woman was staying with her parents for some time following a dispute over family matters and both of them were involved in a legal case, the officer said.
"It seems the murder is a fallout over the family dispute," he said.
Tension prevailed for quite some time in the area following the incident. Amberpet police have registered a murder case and are further investigating.
