Free treatment for victims of rape, acid attack in Haryana, announces government

All government and private hospitals have to provide immediate first-aid or medical treatment, free of cost, to victims of sexual assault and acid attack as mandated by laws, Haryana Government said on Friday.

Stating this, an official spokesman said if any patient or his/her relatives find that treatment is being denied, they could file a complaint before the district civil surgeon.

The spokesman said all hospitals would provide immediate free of cost first-aid or medical treatment to the victims of any offence covered under section 326A, 376, 376A, 376B, 376C, 376D or 376E of the Indian Penal Code.

He said that under IPC Section 166B, whoever being in charge of a hospital, public or private, whether run by the Central Government, the state government, local bodies or any other person, if denies victims of any treatment would contravene the provisions of section 375C of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The person would be punished with imprisonment of one year or fine or with both.
