French consulate receives threat letter against Hollande's Republic Day visit

French President Francois Hollande's is set to visit as chief guest of Republic Day celebrations.

The French Consulate in Bengaluru has received a threat letter warning against French President François Hollande's visit to India. 

French Embassy issued a statement saying, "The Consulate General of France in Bengaluru has received a threat letter. We have informed the Indian police of this letter, whose authenticity is yet to be established."

Additional CP P Harisekaran told ANI that the threat was written in a single page letter sent to French Consulate General in Bengaluru. 

French President Francois Hollande's is set to visit as chief guest of Republic Day celebrations. Announcing Hollande's visit, the Embassy had issued a release saying he will travel to India on January 26 on a state visit, where he will be the Chief Guest of Republic Day celebrations. "This visit will also follow on from the Paris Climate Conference, at which India played a decisive role in reaching an ambitious agreement," the release said.
