Hindu don Arun Gawli aka Daddy released from Nagpur jail on 15-day parole.

Gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, sentenced to life imprisonment in a 2008 murder case, was today released from the Nagpur Central Jail on a 15-day parole.

Gawli, who had sought leave to attend his son's wedding on May 9, had been granted parole by the Bombay High Court on Friday.

He walked out of the jail around 2 pm today.

"Gawli has been released on 15-day parole today. He will have to return to jail on May 21. During the parole period, Gawli will report to Agripada police station in Mumbai," a Nagpur jail official said.

After considering the impugned order passed by the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur on April 23, which rejected Gawli's application seeking parole for 30 days to enable him to attend his son's wedding, the high court had granted him 15 days parole to be counted from the day he will be released.

As per the court order, on all alternate days of parole period Gawli, a former MLA, will have to report to Agripada Police Station (Mumbai) for one hour in the morning.

In August 2012, Gawli, along with 11 others, had been sentenced to life imprisonment by a special MCOCA court in Mumbai in Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar murder case.
