General VK Singh promises to find solution to harassment of North Eastern people

Newly-appointed Minister for Development of North Eastern Region General (Retd) VK Singh on Wednesday promised to find a solution to the harassment of people from the area, saying it is his top priority.

63-year-old Singh, who was appointed Minister for DONER with independent charges, said that he "strongly condemns" the harassment of the people from the North East.

"It will be my priority to find a solution to this," he tweeted this evening.

Singh, who will take charge of his ministry tomorrow, was elected to Lok Sabha from Ghaziabad constituency in the recent general elections.

Singh also thanked everyone for their wishes and blessings, saying it will be his constant endeavour to deliver on the promises and to live up to people's expectations.

The former Army chief has the experience of serving in the Northeast in different capacities as an Army officer. He was also the GoC-in-C of the Eastern Command looking after the Easter and entire Northeastern region.
