Students enjoy learning about various laws and policies of India.

The participants of the Gujarat National Law University's 2nd international moot court competition did more than just honing their skills of litigation at the event. They also explored different opportunities available to them.

"Many US-based firms are entering into partnership with Indian firms. So it has become very important to understand the ways and manners of litigation in India. The international moot court competition is an excellent opportunity to develop this understanding" said DC Jocelyn Bond, a student of George Washington University of Washington who was in town to participate in the competition along with her classmate Sarah Knutson.

Talking about the new things that they learnt from the event, Knutson said, "I have observed that much more emphasis is given on law than policy here. Other than that most of the processes are more or less similar to that of ours."

Teams from various countries like Pakistan, Nepal, and Hungary participated in the event.

The 3-member team of students from Pakistan was excited by the prospect of understanding the Indian perspective of the 'contemporary Indo-Pak' relations by personally visiting the country and meeting other students here. One of the three students from Punjab University Law College of Pakistan Hassan Sajjad Naqvi said, "Everything is very much the same here as it is back home in Pakistan. The general public is blinded by the political games. If given a chance, I would request the governments to stop all this fighting."

The coming together of 36 teams from different institutes from across the globe gave the students not only an exciting opportunity to reinforce their networking but also to learn about different trends and practices of the other institutes.

A student of Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, Krishna Veer Singh said, “Not only the feedbacks from the judges are very useful but the chance to meet other students and share knowledge and experiences with them is also a great opportunity as well.”
