Goa’s home minister Ravi Naik was today admitted to a private hospital after he fell sick after attending Republic Day function at Ponda town, family sources stated.
Naik was immediately rushed to Apollo hospital at Margao, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Family sources said that the preliminary the cause of illness looks like food poisoning.
Eye witnesses revealed that the minister started vomiting after the Republic Day function and was rushed to the hospital. "He is fine now. We will issue the medical statement later on. He is stable," the hospital spokesman said.
Naik, a Congress legislator, represents Ponda constituency and is a former chief minister of the state.
Besides home portfolio, he is also co-operation, women and child development and animal husbandry minister of the state.
