A unique Godavari cleanliness drive under the aegis of Green Kumbh is being undertaken on June 5 by 22,000 volunteers and about 125 organisations at 69 points on Godavari, Nasardi and Kapila on the occasion of World Environment Day. Led by divisional commissionerate, the district administration, zilla parishad and the Nashik Municipal Corporation, large-scale preparations have been made to clean the river in and around the city. "This is a drive for the city and all must come out and participate. Green Kumbh is an impetus to start a movement to conserve and cherish our natural resources and the environment. On June 5, many people should participate and take responsibility," said district collector Dipendersingh Kushwa.
Parts of the city, including the banks along Godavari, Kapila, Waghadi and Nasardi rivers, bus stands, market yard, vegetable markets, lanes leading to the ghats, and other such places will be cleaned.
