Government intends to come out with a comprehensive electoral reforms bill by August-September that would address the issue of curbing criminalisation of politics, Union law minister M Veerappa Moily said today.
He said a two-day national workshop on electoral reforms would be convened here in June to discuss the proposed measures.
"I have made a lot of preparations and we would like to involve all the political parties, academics and everyone....(in the workshop)", Moily told reporters here.
Reports of the Indrajit Gupta and Dinesh Goswami committees and others on electoral reforms would be looked into."....we would like to ensure that lessons learnt from many of the Parliamentary democracies are incorporated in our reforms process", the minister said.
He also said a meet would be convened to discuss the second generation of reforms in legal education in early May.
