The Goa government has issued a circular barring government officers from visiting homes or personal offices of MLAs for any official purpose.
The circular was issued after some government officers visited Congress leader Ravi Naik's residence in Ponda to discuss issues regarding the development of his constituency.
This meeting was brought to the notice of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who had raised the issue in the last Assembly session.
The circular instructs government officers to hold official meeting in either chambers of ministers or offices of deputy collectors at taluka level.
"MLAs do not have government office to hold meetings. If there is an issue related to the constituency, where shall we meet officers?" senior Congress MLA and former CM Ravi Naik said, adding that, "Such circulars can only be intended to suppress an opposition MLA from performing," he said
