Gujarat ATS grills LeT activist in Delhi, to bring him to Ahmedabad

Confirming the development, Gujarat ATS chief, Ajay Tomar told DNA that Salim has been named as an accused in the Kalupur Railway Station bomb blasts.

Mohammad Aslam alias Salim, 26, who was arrested by the special cell of Delhi police in August 25, 2009, will be brought to the city by the Gujarat ATS team soon for interrogation on the Kalupur bomb blast case. Police teams from Gujarat and Mumbai have reached Delhi.

Confirming the development, Gujarat ATS chief, Ajay Tomar told DNA that Salim has been named as an accused in the Kalupur Railway Station bomb blasts. The Gujarat police was informed of Salim’s arrest after it was revealed that he was involved in the twin blasts in Ahmedabad-Mumbai Karnavati Express train on February 19, 2006.

Salim was carrying four detonators, two timers and two kilograms of explosive chemicals, concealed in boxes of sweets at the time of his arrest by Delhi police. Sources in Delhi said that Salim had plans to trigger terror attacks in Maharashtra with the help of two other accomplices.

The police have found that he has links and sleeper cells in parts of Gujarat as well as in Maharashtra. Salim’s modus operandi was that he operated by different names at different places.

A source in police department revealed that Salim had received terrorists training in Pakistan and is an active Students Islamic Movement of India (Simi) activist.
