With swine flu continuing to strike in the state, many big corporates and other firms have started creating awareness about H1N1 among their employees. Some companies are also getting their employees checked by their panel of doctors or are tying-up with doctors to take care of their employees.
Zydus Cadila, a city-based pharmaceutical company, has circulated a presentation on swine flu among all its employees in both forms, soft copy and hard copy, in English, Gujarati and Hindi. The presentation has been made by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the US and has been checked by the doctors on the company panel.
Commenting on the company’s fight against swine flu, a spokesperson of Zydus Cadila said, “The company is also running a 24-hour helpline. We are also getting our employees screened by medical adviser and have put hand sanitiser at all entry points.”
Stating that employees’ protection from swine flu is a priority area, Jaimin Shah, director of Dev Information Technology, said, “There are about 150 employees in our different branches in the city, and our company has taken the swine flu issue seriously.”
“Therefore, apart from explaining to them the importance of maintaining hygiene we are also tying up with a clinic, which will screen our staff to determine if they are suffering from any infection or flu. We are also thinking of covering the family members of our employees under health check-up,” Shah added.
General Manager (HR), Intas Biopharmaceuticals Limited, Jayesh Saluja, said “We undertook this initiative, considering the threat of H1N1 in Gujarat. We conducted a number of awareness sessions for over 350 employees and over 150 support staff. These sessions were conducted by our medical team at multiple locations of the company.”
The awareness sessions for support staff were held in vernacular to apprise them of the causes and symptoms, and precautions that one must take. “The essence of the programme was that the employees should not panic but be alert, and do simple things to prevent the spread of swine flu in our society,” said Saluja.
Even Sintex Industries has joined the fight against swine flu. It is distributing free homoeopathy medicines for protection against H1N1 virus. “We have chosen homoeopathy to help protect our employees and their families,” said the MD of Sintex Industries, SB Dangayach.
