Jafri wanted Supreme Court to intervene into the matter and bring some justice to her. However, she has not lost faith in judiciary and hopes to get justice.

A new turn has come in Ahsan Jafri case on Monday, with the apex court asking lower court in Ahmedabad to probe proceedings in the matter. Jafri’s family members seemed sad with the move however, they hoped that lower court will do justice with them.

“Chief minister Narendra Modi and state government have not got clean chit in the case and it is still going on. Supreme Court’s decision to transfer case to lower court is painful, but we accept it. We have waited for nine years and will wait for some more time to get justice. We will fight till the end,” Zakia Jafri said.

According to Jafri, Narendra Modi and state administration were responsible for what took place at Gulberg Society during the riots.

Jafri family has decided to consult its advocates, Mukul Sinha and Teesta Setalwad. Any further action will be taken only after considering all legal aspects in the case.

“We are fighting against a bias system not against a person (Narendra Modi). The then state government is responsible for entire incident and as Modi was CM, his guilt is more compared to others. Modi has power, money and everything. He has changed investigation flow of SIT,” Duraiya Zafri, daughter-in-law of Ahsan Jafri, said.

Duraiya complained that except some close people, nobody came forward to help them. However, she termed Gujarat as peaceful state, with no problems faced till now, post Godhra riots.

“We are safe here and are staying in Gujarat past nine years. We have never thought of moving out of the state or shifting our case to other state. What we know is that we will get justice some day,” Duraiya said.

Ahsan’s son Tanvir, who is handling entire case, was not available for comments repeated attempts. Sources said that Tanvir went to Delhi with Teesta Setalwad for the hearing of the case in Supreme Court.
