The Haryana government has sought a report from the Panchkula police on all the cases registered against Ruchika Girhotra's brother Ashoo.

"We have been asked by the Government (Home Department) to send a report on the cases that were registered against Ashoo," Panchkula police chief Maneesh Chaudhry said.

Chaudhry said the report was almost ready and would be submitted to the government by tomorrow.

14-year-old Ruchika, who was molested by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore in 1990, consumed poison on December 28, 1993 and died the following day. Rathore, who retired in 2002, was awarded a six-month jail term by a CBI court here last week for molesting the budding tennis player.

The victim's family lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj said Ashoo had been allegedly booked in a string of false cases including for auto theft at the behest of Rathore.

Meanwhile, RR Singh, former Haryana DGP told reporters at Karnal, about 125 km from here, that he was entrusted the
inquiry of Ruchika molestation case by the state government in 1992.

Singh said he held Rathore guilty in the case after conducting the inquiry, adding the report was submitted to the state government within stipulated time of three days.

"Stern action should be taken against such a highly placed officer (Rathore) who has defamed the police force," he said.
