Health minister JP Nadda on Thursday launched a campaign called HealthifyIndia, which aimed to help a million Indians to adopt better practices for a better life. As part of the campaign, the partners involved will deliver goods and services worth Rs 1000 to anyone who pledges to have a healthy life as part of the campaign.
"I am pleased to see the use of smartphone technology for innovative answers to lifestyle diseases. I wish HealthifyIndia all the very best," said Nadda, while launching the campaign in the capital.
The campaign is a result of the efforts of popular fitness app HealthifyMe, which also has a popular website, fitness portal healthifyme.com, run by Zee Media's India.com, Godrej Nature's Basket, Manipal Hospitals, Medanta -The Medcity and the Apollo Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Endocrinology.
The health portal, thehealthsite.com, is India's most visited health website with 40 lakh visitors. It also give access to 500 health experts and is available in four languages.
Tushar Vashisht, CEO at HealthifyMe said that they have invested Rs100 crores in the campaign. “Along with our partners Godrej Nature’s Basket, Manipal Hospitals, Medanta, Apollo Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Endocrinology, we have ensured that any person who pledges to lead a healthy life is given our full cooperation. Someone who wants a healthy life simply has to log on and pledge, after which he or she will be able to access Rs 300 worth of calorie tracking software from the website, vouchers for healthy foods worth Rs 300, vouchers for free health screenings and medical checkups Rs 2000, and hundreds of articles on living a fitter life,” said Vashisht, adding that he is hopeful that a million Indians will sign up with the initiative.
