The met department sources said the city recorded 82.8 mm rainfall since last night and the situation is likely to deteriorate as more rain is forecast in the next 48 hours.

Heavy rains lashed the city since Sunday night leading to waterlogging in a large part of it and affecting normal life.

Various residential colonies in low lying areas are knee-deep under water which led to traffic snarls and created inconvenience for the city's denizens.
 
Heavy rain was also reported from various parts of the state which is expected to give a boost to the agriculture sector.
