Historical monuments are targets of Taliban: Ambika Soni

Historical monuments, including the Taj Mahal, are on the target of terrorists, especially the Taliban, Union Tourism and Cultural Affairs minister Ambika Soni has said and suggested a separate Tourism Task Force for protection these  structures.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday evening, she said "historical buildings, including the Taj Mahal, are the target of the Taliban."

"Though the government has become more alert and vigilant after 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, there is an urgent need for setting up a Tourism Task Force for protecting historical buildings from possible attacks of terrorists, especially Talibans", Soni said.

The Tourism minister said she had written to the Union Home minister about the Task Force.
